Packwood Chase

A typical 1980’s purpose-built detached property with small, poorly-lit and inadequate living space is to be adapted to create an open, welcoming and sociable family home.

The brief was to create much-needed additional space with an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space.

The key move includes the introduction of a new full-width, single-storey extension (to the property’s rear) and involves removing a significant amount of the existing masonry.

The introduction of large external openings in the new extension and the installation of openable rooflights/ fixed roof glazing will provide the open-plan living spaces with natural daylight while vastly improving the relationship between the internal and external spaces.
