Redland Green School, Bristol (Building Design Partnership)
While employed by Building Design Partnership, involvement on this challenging project commenced during the construction stage and included attending site progress meetings, client consultations, sub-contractor interface meetings, overseeing design team co-ordination, approving sub-contractors information, dealing with contractor’s queries, issuing instructions, inspecting built works and the production of a large amount of construction information.
Redland Green is a new build school in North Bristol, which integrates three interrelated elements of learning to accommodate 1450 pupils. These three elements include an 11-16 mainstream secondary school, a post-16 centre and a base for pupils with severe to profound and multiple learning difficulties (SLD/PMLD).
Located within a conservation area, on a greenfield site, this school is sensitively placed within the hillside and adapts to the dramatically changing levels by the use of a gently sloping ETFE-covered enclosed street.
